Kiln Knockando (meaning small black high) lies in a small valley of the river Speys left bank, in a place that is famous for salmon fishing, not far from the distillery Tamdhu. Distillery's water originates in granite and flows over peat.
John Thomson built the distillery during the whiskey boom in 1898, it survived barely the crisis, Patti's bankruptcy is acted because it was taken over by Gilbey 1904 until 1977, Justerini & Brooks owners of the license and was also responsible for the expansion to four stills in in 1969.
The whiskey is very elegant and supple. It enjoyed like as apéritif.
